East Village in Calgary is part of the city’s newer (2005) Area Redevelopment Plan. CMLC which was formed by the government to redevelop the ear within the master plan has been orchestrating development since 2007. The East Village neighbourhood in Calgary Encompasses the land south of the Bow River, East of City Hall and West of the Elbow River. It is flanked to the South by the railroad. A mix of high density, industrial and commercial and food and beverage spaces with great proximity to the core and local river parks and attractions like the Zoo and Fort Calgary, East Village is without a doubt an urban playground. St. Patrick’s island was a stunning redevelopment project of an oft forgotten island on the Bow River. CMLC has converted it into a destination in its own right with toboggan hill and firepit overlooking the city, BBQ’s, walking trails a playground and plenty of natural beauty to explore. CMLC has done a great job invigorating life and a brand into this newfangled community which is now also home to the New Award-Winning Central Library, Studio Bell and The King Eddy. The new arena and access to the Calgary Stampede is easily accessible through the new 9th Avenue underpass. Residences in the neighbourhood are strictly highrise with the addition in recent years of Evolution by Bosa features two towers and a third Arris with a superstore on the main level, Verve by Fram and Slokker, First, by Fram and Slokker, Ink by Battistella and N3 by Knightsbridge.
