Rio Terrace, like many other premier communities in Edmonton, has great access to the North Saskatchewan River Valley. Luxury homes to the south and west end of the neighborhood along Rio Terrace |Drive, enjoy ridge views and easy access to the park system, including Fort Edmonton park across the river. The neighborhood of Rio Terrace was largely constructed before the 1970s and contains primarily single-family homes.

 

There is one K-6 school in the neighborhood, the Rio Terrace Elementary School.
